Each of the love songs here was commissioned by a good friend as a love gift to his wife. It is featured on my page at projectencore.org.
An Oak of Love
Dr. Daniel Potts (b.1966) is a neurologist, singer, and writer, living in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He wrote this poem to his wife, Ellen, and presented it to her on Valentine’s Day of 2006.
Apparition
Gaines Brake is a clarinetist/saxophonist turned attorney, also living in Tuscaloosa. His wife, Line, is French-Canadian, and is fond of the symbolist poet, Stephane Mallarmé (1842-98).
Sonnet XVII
Kevin Driscoll’s wife, Cathy, is a Shakespeare enthusiast. Kevin is a financial advisor living in Jacksonville, Florida.
La Reina
My brother, David, is a retired doctor living in Tuscon. He and his wife, Dr. Lana Holstein, are sex therapy experts, with best-selling books and appearances on Oprah Winfrey.

Three Short Pieces on Old English Texts
This was written for my choir at Kilgore College, the Kilgore College Chorale, and won second prize in the 2010 Ithaca College Choral Composition Contest.

Songs of Mother Goose
This was so much fun to compose! It was premiered by the Texas Voices in Dallas as I came down with COVID (for the 3rd time) in the spring of 2023 just before our performance at LeTourneau University, and we were unable to perform it.
